Dr Odette T Reader gained her qualification as a Doctor of Chiropractic from the prestigious Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (Canada) in 1981 and has maintained a multi-disciplinary practice for over 35 years.
A New Zealander by birth she immigrating to South Australia in 1982 after her study and practicing in Toronto Canada having passed the Canadian National Clinical Compentency Exams. In1984 she commenced practice in the Northern Suburbs of Adelaide moving into her current location in 1985.
The daughter of a chiropractor Dr Wilton L Reader (Palmer College, USA) with 50 years of practice in Canada, New Zealand & Australia there is a rich history of chiropractic health and well-being with service to the community in the family.
Dr Wil Reader testified infront of the New Zealand Commission of Inquiry into Chiropractic (1979) which served as the foundation for the ground work of acceptance of chiropractic around the world today. Through-out her career Dr. Odette Reader has actively participated at State and National & International Board levels, participated in student Mentoring / Supervision and examination panels, to improve the professional standings of both her professions in Australia and around the world and is involved in the mentoring program for medical students.
As a chiropractor, Dr Reader is dedicated to providing high quality care and personalised treatment with a particular focus on the bio-psycho-social aspects of care and working with patients with complex medical needs including Chronic Diseases, Auto-immune Diseases & Mental Health issues that affect the musculo-skeletal system.
She works in a patient centred collaberative care process providing accurate and timely information that is transparent, involved and open in a manner that is responsive to the needs of every patient. Encouraging patient health literacy & participation she provides outcomes for patients which may include an opinion and management for the patients referring GP or Medical Specialist. These outcomes may include chiropractic care, main stream medical care, mental health care or medical specialists care.
Dr Reader uses an instrument low force technique/high speed (Impulse) Adjustor that minimizes stress and strain on the joints and ligaments of the body when inflammatory factors are at play. She also uses the more traditional chiropractic manual adjustments depending on the individuals needs and circumstances at the time providing individualised care to each patient so that they are fully informed and receives the best possible outcomes from their treatment without bias, discrimination or prejudice, regardless of gender, disability or social background. She looks forward to diagnostic challenges and working with the patients medical team providing Chiropractic Consultancy with an opinion and management.
In 1992 Dr Reader commenced her training as a clinical psychotherapist and gained the International qualification of Certified Transactional Analyst (Adv Dip Clinical Psychotherapy) in 2000. In 2001 she earned a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and started training psychotherapists and working as a Clinical Supervisor for chiropractors and mental health professionals. She was accredited as a Clinical Supervisor by the Psychotherapist & Counsellors Federation of Australia and is a member of Chiropractic Australia
